Universal Day

Today was Universal Studios Tour day. A ten minute walk down to the Metro station then a thirty min train to Universal City. At the park gates I was advised to buy the front of line pass which proved to be a great plan.

First stop in the park is the Studio tour and the front of line pass is already worth its wait in gold as i'm straight to the front of the que.  The tour begins with a drive past some of the stage lots (nothing but a few hanger style buildings to see), but interesting non the less.

We then make our way to some of the outdoor sets.

One of the previous tours obviously didn't go too well. lol

The King Kong 3D section of the tour was very cool and I get the first of what will be many soakings of the day. Then on to the Fast and the Furious set.

If my trip has taught me anything its that I need to save up for a camera that takes video as well as stills.

A few western sets then its off to the Jaws section.

Just before my second saoking of the day.

The dry bag I bought in Koh Tao for my suba diving adventures is the best buy of the trip so far. Everyone should have one.

Jaws may look a little lame, but i still wouldn't like to be in the water. Think we're gonna need a bigger boat. lol

Its then time for a drive down Wisteria Lane and the set of Desperate Housewives.

No sign of Terry Hatcher and the girls. Doh!!!

Its then off to the Bates Motel where Norman seems to be taking out the trash.

and he doesn't seem happy to see us.

Time to get out of hear and on to the set of War of the Worlds.

The tour over its time to check the rest of the park out. First is the Shrek 4D (3D but the seats move aswell), then onto the Waterworld stage.

Its better than the film. lol and with the front of line pass we get to meet the cast and get a few tips of the trade. Helena (below) has appeared in Twilight (thing its a chick film), Indian Jones and one of my mums favorite TV shows the Mentalist.

The special effects stage is very cool then its off to the Transformers 3D ride and Terminator 2: 3D ride. Get to meet some of the cast from Terminator.

I'll be back!!

With the sun going down its time to get to the Mummy and Simpson rides.

Oh my God I can't believe they lets kids on this. Thankfully there were no kids in our car otherwise they would have heard a few choice swear words. Its a rollercoaster and the best way I can describe it is Rita Queen of Speed (Alton Towers) in the dark where have way through it takes you backwards.

For those of you travelling alone dont go to the House of Horrors at a time when no one else is there. The actors that jump out and chase you have a open licence to scare you anyway they can and take joy I doing so. Some more choice swear words and a near heart attack later its time to get a caricature of myself before getting the train back to my hotel for some well needed sleep.

LA tour & Lakers

Up early as lots to do today.

Looked out of the my hotel window and I can see the Hollywood sign. Bonus

No really you have to look closely.

Metro to Hollywood to catch a tour of the town. Start of the tour is the Chinese theatre where they hold most of the premiers.

Not going to put all my tour pics on here but here are some of my highlights in the order they were on the tour. You'll understand why I say this when you see my first pic.

This is where Demi Moore learned how to pole dance for her part in Striptease.

The Stardard Hotel. Oceans Eleven and other films were shot here.

Carney's. One of the superman film locations. Bet your all humming the superman theme tune now.

Then off to my favorite part of LA, Beverley Hills

So thats where I parked my car.

No Richard Gere of Julia Roberts, but there are lots of "Pretty Women" about.

Beverley Hills Cop location, Is that Eddie Murphy.

Capitol Records

Paramount Studios

The Disney Concert Hall

Union Station

With some good planning on my part (even if I do say so myself) the tour bus dropped me off at the Staples Centre just in time for me to catch a LA Lakers Basketball game.

Oh yes and they have Laker Girls aswell. Result.

Jam packed day so it didn't take me long to drop off to sleep.

Think its Unversal Studios for the next couple of days. Surely I'll see a celeb of two there. I'll let you know.
